Powered by the legendary Evolution (Evo) engine, the 2003 model represents the final year of the rigid-mount Sportster before the 2004 redesign. After nearly two decades of refinement, Harley had worked out the bugs and created a motorcycle that earned a reputation for going well over 100,000 miles with routine maintenance.
Why do riders still seek them out?

• Massive aftermarket support
• Parts are inexpensive and widely available
• Built to be ridden, repaired, and ridden again
The 883 deserves special mention. It isn't the most powerful Sportster, but because it's less highly stressed than the 1200, many owners consider it one of the most durable Harley engines ever produced.
Motorcycles don't need touchscreens, riding modes, or dozens of electronic systems to be enjoyable. Sometimes the best machine is the one that starts every time, gets you home every time, and asks for little more than fresh oil and regular attention.
